Reflection Paper Five: (Dont forget to use 300 words and a three-paragraph format!) (cite any sources outside of lecture)
Choose one of the following questions:
What motivated the revolts we studied in class, particularly the Revolutions of 1848? Was it nationalism, middle or working classes struggling for power in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, protesters that opposed powerful monarchs unlimited by constitutions, or just a cultural ideal let loose by the French Revolution? (You may find the end of Chapter 20 and all of Chapter 21 useful for this in the main textbook!)

What do the urbanization examples we discussed in class have to say about Europe in the mid to late nineteenth century? (Use specific examples of things we talked about in class to answer this question.) How does this urbanization relate to how all levels of society interacted, and how did it reflect a form of social segregation? This will be based largely on lecture notes from the videos although theres a little in Chapters 22 and 23 about the changes to cities and empires, and there’s a super creepy picture and article from eugenics propaganda in the Sources book on pages 459-462. These might help you form your argument!! This except from Jack London’s People of the Abyss might also be useful: http://www.online-literature.com/london/people-of-the-abyss/24/ (Links to an external site.)
